The modern electric guitar is easy enough to grasp.                                                        The machine heads are used for tuning, the volume                                                          control to change the volume quickly by hand, the                                                                   pickups and the tone control changes the sound it                                                         makes. They should be played with to create a                                                                 personal sound.  The guitar above is a fender                                                               stratocaster which retail at about £1000, but                                                                     copies can be bought for around £120 (see buying guitars)
